Exemplifying a refined understanding of what does and does not work, Juan De Dios carefully maps out complex textures with little difficulty. Mixing precision and artistry ‘The Dark & Light EP’ balances form and function as much as it does pleasure. Pulling from a colorful catalogue of sounds and sonic shapes, alien synths, and prickly tribal accoutrements connect the dots between deep and dub across all four tracks -- a sound essential to the esoteric and ethnic-inspired landscapes Nylon Trax has come to be synonymous with. I also love the way this release sounds as if it was recorded on analog tape, warm and crisp with the subtle tape hiss...
